Makino’s 1-Series horizontal machining centers (HMCs) are compact and versatile machining centers that provide superior out-of-cut technology to reduce part cycle times. And, they have built-in reliability that minimizes or even eliminates traditional maintenance costs.

The Makino 1-Series has a shorter in-cut and out-of-cut time, faster operating specifications and is a more reliable, convenient and productive solution than other machines in the marketplace. This creates a true advantage for Makino in a number of areas.

The 1-Series machines are ideal for use by medium- to high-volume production shops, first- and second-tier automotive parts suppliers and general contract machining operations. And, Makino has four different 1-Series machines to fit the needs of any operation.

The one-piece bed, coolant containment and management and quick indexing are all designed to keep the operational cost and maintenance cost low for the 1-Series. Larger bearing surfaces support better rigidity and speed, and the column rigidity is supported with core-cooled, pre-tension ballscrews.

Makino Features and Benefits
All Makino 1-Series machines have several standard features and benefits that provide advantages to any operation.

Makino’s proprietary, next generation Geometric Intelligence (GI) servo control with Radical Mode comes standard with the 1-Series machines. GI with Radical Mode helps provide the lowest cycle times achievable while maintaining accuracy and meeting the customer’s Cpk requirements. The machine also comes equipped with an easy to use Makino Pro 3 controller.

These 1-Series machines also have a host of tool monitoring capabilities equipped as standard features. These capabilities allow users to achieve extended machining hours with no additional labor costs.

A rear discharge lift-up chip conveyor that includes a coolant leakage protection design, a standard 300-psi, through-spindle and safety-designed coolant system and an automatic pallet changer with safety guard is also standard.

Makino’s three-point support system for easy movement and set-up of the small footprint 1-Series, along with an ergonomic swing operator control panel, a safetydesigned four-layer protective operator door window and overhead shower coolant are also standard features.
